I woke up to a beautiful morning today but by 7 am the mobile kept buzzing. It was the Whatsapp msgs from groups in Bangalore providing the Traffic update.... Sarjapur Road Completely jammed, AET junction jammed, Dodakannelli road jammed.... School bus delayed, children waiting on the busstop for over an hour, buses reached school 3 hours late. A normal drive from Carmelaram St to Koramangala would take an hour and a half due to the pathetic road conditions, today took 3+ hours.... because it rained in Bangalore yesterday.
Omg! Bangalore received 3mm of Rainfall yesterday. Sufficient to screw up the productivity of the entire IT Population.
My city is dying. Is someone listening.... The city has a hole in the heart. We need a heart surgeon. 3mm rains stop the city from functioning. My city is ailing. Somebody help. Is someone listening....
This city was once upon a time called the Garden City. Now it is a City under Construction. The pipelines are being laid to reduce the impact of the Water Mafia - marginal reduction though. This covers the entire Sarjapur Road Stretch and its branches. Then there is the white-topping and the metro project that is ongoing - this covers all the IT parks from Hosur to Manyata. Then there is just some Random digging done to lay fibre optic cables - no one is answerable here.
The common man in Bangalore is the so-called IT Professional he has tried everything he possibly could. Cycling to work, working from home, working in shifts, taking the train, starting as early as 6:30am to work to even letting go of his job which he enjoys and taking up something closer to home.... he has tried everything.
It's high time the Civic bodies now do something about the city. The city is ailing and it's dying. Is someone listening.....
